What Is a Seismic Source Vessel?
A seismic source vessel carries the energy source for marine seismic surveys: airguns, a compressor and the deck equipment needed to deploy them. A shallow draft allows the vessel to work in lagoons, bays, river mouths and coastal transition zones, where larger vessels cannot operate. This vessel was built in Germany in 1983 and modernised in 2009.
