What Is the Tracs TDMA?
The Tracs TDMA is the radio datalink of the Sercel VE464 vibrator electronics system. It connects the DPG (Digital Pilot Generator) with the DSD (Digital Servo Drive) units installed in the vibrators. Using Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), several users share the same frequency channel, and each one transmits in its own time-slot. Messages between the DPG and all the DSDs are virtually simultaneous, unlike with a conventional radio, which may delay messages by a few seconds. The Sercel variant of the Tracs TDMA is specifically tuned to meet Sercel requirements and includes a built-in GPS receiver.
